What Is The Purpose Of Submission?

God noticed that Adam needed a helper because none of the animals were as smart and wise as Adam. The animals could not help Adam do anything; Adam needed a helper. God did not want Adam be alone and so He made Eve out of Adam’s rib.

So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man… (Genesis 2:21)

God could have made another man from Adam’s rib for his helper, or he could have just let Adam remain alone with the beasts of the fields for the rest of his life, but instead God wanted strong and powerful Adam to become “one flesh” through sexual intimacy with beautiful, feminine Eve. Eve was to become Adam’s helpmate.

All aspects of the marriage relationship between a man and a woman in the physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional are God’s design and perfect plan. The idea of a man/man marriage is not a part of God’s design. Man’s purpose is to give woman life through the intimate and physical act of sex, while the woman’s purpose is to give life to the world through child bearing.

Only the man and woman relationship fulfills Gods purpose and plan for marriage. A woman/woman or man/man relationship cannot give life to the world. It only gives disease and a twisted distortion of the truth.

Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
(Leviticus 18:22)

A married mans purpose is to love his wife in the same way Jesus Christ loves and cares for us. Marriage is a beautiful picture of the relationship between Jesus Christ and His people. A man should be willing to sacrifice everything for his wife, meaning to give up his own selfish ways, accept God for his life, and love her according to the measure of how much Christ loves him. This is how a man submits to his wife. A husband is to be an example of the relations between Jesus and His people.

In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the Church – for we are members of his body. (Ephesians 5:28)

A wife is to love and care for her husband and she is also to submit to her husbands spiritual headship just as we (believers) are to submit to Christ’s spiritual headship. So you see, it is the same distinction between Christ and His people. True believers worship and revere Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

“The Church” does not mean a brick and mortar building. The Kingdom of God is within you. Believers of Jesus Christ are the Church! Today, if I walk into a Church and Jesus Christ is not the head of that Church, I will not stay to listen to that sermon. Many Christian Churches do not revere and worship Jesus Christ as the head; instead they revere the state, pastors, or themselves. It is not a true Christian Church if Jesus Christ is not in headship. This is the reason many people remain blind to the truth, they are lead astray by (gobble-gee-gook)what they want to hear rather than the Word of God!

A man’s purpose is to love and care for his wife in the same way Jesus cares for us. He is to give his wife life through his love of her and she is to give that love back to the world through the act of submitting to that love. It is a perfect and beautiful example of why God has set marriage aside for this reason. Marriage between a man and a woman is to be sanctified and holy just as Christ and His Church are. Submission is rarely a problem in homes where both husband and wife have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ.

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. (Ephesians 5:21)
